Fernando Vargas

Fernando Vargas received his B.S in Chemistry from California State University, Los Angeles under the mentorship of Jamil Momand, where he specialized used biochemical techniques to study how reactive oxidative species affect protein folding. Fernando is currently enrolled in the Biological Sciences Graduate program at the University of California, San Diego. He current research, under the guidance of Pieter Dorrestein, is focused in understanding how sleep and circadian disruption affects the host metabolome and whether prebiotics or probiotics can minimize the litany of negative effects attributed to sleep and circadian disruption.
