Ming Wang

Mingxun (Ming) Wang, PhD

Ming is passionate about big data science paired with the right biological questions and the analytical tools to answer them. At UCSD in Pieter's lab, Ming has the right combination of collaborations, high throughput analytical mass spectrometry instrumentation, hundreds of thousands of datasets to mine, and the computational infrastructure to bring it together. During his graduate work with Nuno Bandeira, Ming worked to visualize microbe/molecular distribution of the lung in Cystic Fibrosis, map microbe/molecular distribution in the gut microbiome, and develop algorithms to build peptide reference spectral libraries. In addition to this, Ming also designed and developed crowd sources analysis platform for natural products research called GNPS.
